Exercise: Enjoy it!

Whether you are a Gastric-bypass patient or someone who seeks to improve their health, exercise plays an important component in overall well being. It does not matter what types of exercise you choose to engage in as long as you are doing something, and doing it on a regular basis.

The 50 by 5 rule should be followed when one considers an exercise program. Exercising 5 days a week, at minimum, for 50 minutes or longer will provide everyone with greater flexibility, vitality and improved health. The health benefits of exercise are enormous and well documented. Exercise should be performed to the point that you have sweat on your brow. It should never be painful or exhausting.

Exercise does not always have to take place in the gym. In fact, if you use it as a form of recreation you will enjoy it more and be more willing to engage in it on a regular basis.

The intermountain area provides numerous opportunities for individuals to use exercise as a form of recreation. Well marked hiking trails are available for walkers of all levels. The ski industry has down hill as well as cross country skiing available. Parks offer not only walking paths but Roller skating, Ice Skating and more. Take inventory of what is available in your area, and try something new. Much of outdoor exercise is free and something the entire family can enjoy.

It is up to you to adopt a lifestyle of health through consistent exercise. Once you do you will experience much benefit.
